Terms of Use

These conditions govern access to Mecklenburg County Criminal History. Visiting a page, reading its content, or using a search tool means that you agree to follow them. Stop using the site if you do not accept every term. The site is a private reference concerning Mecklenburg County, Virginia records and is not an official source.

NO FCRA USE. This privately operated website has no government affiliation and is not a consumer reporting agency. Neither the site nor an advertising partner offers a service intended for credit, employment, insurance, tenant screening, or another purpose regulated by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).

1. What This Website Is

Mecklenburg County Criminal History is an independent reference, not a public office or private investigation firm. We do not hold official records, retrieve them on demand, perform government background checks, or submit filings.

Content routes readers to offices such as Mecklenburg County court clerks, the Sheriff's Office, Meherrin River Regional Jail, the Virginia State Police Central Criminal Records Exchange, and the Virginia Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry. It may also connect visitors with separately operated search tools.

2. Rules for Using This Site

By using the site, you agree that you will not:

  • Violate federal, Virginia, or local law
  • Stalk, threaten, or harass a person with information found here
  • Use site content for a credit, employment, housing, or insurance decision
  • Attempt unauthorized access to systems or data
  • Deploy bots, scrapers, or automated collection tools against the pages
  • Interfere with site operation or another visitor's access

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

You may not use information from this site or a linked tool to intimidate, stalk, threaten, harass, or unlawfully discriminate against anyone. Registry information requires particular care. The Virginia Sex Offender and Crimes Against Minors Registry exists for community awareness, not vigilantism. Misuse against a listed person or household may violate Virginia law.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

We do not make background checks, credit reports, or consumer reports, and we are not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA. You agree not to use information from the site or a linked service to:

  • Make a hiring or termination decision
  • Evaluate a rental or housing application
  • Assess creditworthiness or set an insurance premium
  • Decide eligibility for a license, permit, or public benefit
  • Carry out any other FCRA-regulated purpose

A legally required official check must use the proper authorized channel. Virginia State Police administers consent-based SP-167 requests and statutory fingerprint processes, while an FCRA-compliant provider may be required for a regulated consumer report.

5. No Legal Advice

Site content is general information, not legal advice. It cannot determine how a Mecklenburg County charge, warrant, conviction, expungement rule, or sealing law applies to one person. Consult a Virginia-licensed attorney for advice.

6. No Warranties

The site and its content are supplied "as is." We make no promise that:

  • Any page is complete, accurate, or current
  • Access will be uninterrupted
  • The site is free from bugs, errors, or security flaws
  • A partner tool will produce complete or accurate results

Criminal records change as cases advance, corrections arrive, or records become sealed or expunged. No statement here is an official declaration by a court, sheriff, jail, or state agency.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links may lead to public agencies, court portals, legal resources, or outside search companies. The destination controls its own content, pricing, availability, privacy, and terms. We are not responsible for those outside services.

8. Intellectual Property

Text, graphics, logos, and code on the site belong to Mecklenburg County Criminal History or its content partners. They may not be copied, changed, distributed, or used to create another work without prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the broadest extent allowed by law, we are not liable for loss or damages arising from use of the site, including reliance on content or results reached through a linked service.

10. Indemnification

You agree to defend and hold us harmless from a claim, demand, or proceeding caused by your use of the site or your violation of these terms, including related legal fees and costs.

11. Governing Law

Virginia law governs these terms, including applicable provisions of the Virginia Consumer Protection Act. Any dispute tied to site use must be brought in a court located in Virginia.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these conditions at any time. The revised terms take effect when the new version is posted on this page.

13. Cutting Off Access

We may restrict or end a visitor's access at any time, for any reason, and without advance notice.

14. Severability

If a court finds one term invalid or unenforceable, the remaining terms stay effective. The affected language will be adjusted only to the extent needed for enforcement.

15. Questions

Questions about these conditions may be directed through the Contact page.
